Biography

 

Professor Shimon Shetreet is a leading academic figure for public law and the judiciary, writer and editor of many published articles and books in the field. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Science and Arts of Belgium. 

 

Shimon Shetreet held several key postions in academic, public and private sectors. He was the deputy mayor of Jerusalem and a Member of Knesses as well as a minister.

The JIWP Association

 

 

The International Association of Judicial Independence and World Peace and its members introduced innovative concepts of judicial independence clarifying significant components essential for liberty, democracy, human rights and effective world trade.
 

Professor Shetreet is the President of the JIWP.

The International Association of judicial Independence and World Peace is pleased to announce its upcoming International Conference that will be held in Krakow, Poland, at the School of the Judiciary, on 15-17 January 2016.

 

 

The International Association of Judicial Independence and World Peace held an International Confernce in Bologna and Milano during the month of June, 2015.

 

The conference title was: "Judicial indipendence in a Globalized Legal Culture: The Use of Foreign and Transnational Precedents by National Supreme Courts".

15.12.14: Prof. Shetreet Elected Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Belgium.

 

Prof. Shimon Shetreet from the Law Faculty was elected recently as a member in the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Belgium. The inauguration ceremony to this prestigious institution, which counts among its members a number of Nobel laureates and was established in 1772, took place this weekend in Brussels. Prof. Hubert Bokken, the Academy Vice President, presented Prof. Shetreet in the ceremony and noted his pioneering research work in the field of judicial independence and his leadership of the International Association for Judicial Independence and World Peace.
